SUNDAY WORSHIP
Worship is our time to gather as a community of faith, a place to nurture your spirit and stimulate your thinking! We are often joyous and celebratory in worship, but there are times when we are meditative and serious. Our worship is full of variety as we seek to help many different kinds of people praise God and be strengthened in their individual lives. Music comes in many forms, including a great choir, jazz quartet, piano, organ, stringed instruments, and a children's bell choir. Children and youth frequently participate in worship - singing, acting, dancing, reading scripture, lighting candles, taking offering and participating in the worship community.
During the school year, worship is at 10:30 a.m. (beginning the Sunday after Labor Day). During the summer, our worship is at 9:30 a.m. (beginning on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend).
We use primarily gender-free language for God and inclusive language in the prayers, sermon and hymns. For example, we say "people" instead of "men," recognizing the subtle and profound effect of language. We use The New Century Hymnal, which offers a broad range of hymns with a wide array of metaphors to help us broaden our image of God. Hymns from many cultures are included, reflecting the multicultural nature of the UCC.
Our worship is visitor-friendly and easy to follow. Because we have lots of new people, we give frequent directions so you can relax and not worry about what comes next. We serve open communion on the first Sunday of every month, and all are welcome to participate, whether you belong to church or not.
